Admittedly i have been AMD since my K6-2 400 days..

is there a intel guide, its always been a little daunting when looking over at the intel side..

with AMD its pretty easy..

match up the socket and CPU and off you go.. ..the model numbers for AMD are straight forward..

X2 / Phenom and Speed (5000+) etc..


with Intel i wouldn't even know what socket goes with what CPU, what are the different CPU models..

will all CPUs work with any same sock intel motherboard? etc.. etc.


been thinking about upgrading and wanted to look into the Intel camp before going through with it..

lga 775 is socket T for core 2 quads. OFFICIAL support for 45nm cpus is usually on X48, P45, 750i,780i, 790i. although many others will support newest 45nm with latest bios flash, but you will need to researh that from board maker to board maker.

single video card: p35, p45 are best bets
dual ati(crossfire): x38, x48
dual nvidia: 750i, 780i, 790i

i would avoid chipsets not listed, as they are older with less support or aging features, imo.
