Intel E6850 Benchmarks & Pricing 3GHZ $266 ?

umm i dont know about that..... I cant put much stock in an article written by an "author" with a yahoo e-mail address

Ed has some of the most insightful ideas I've seen around. He does great analogies and is often dead on in his interpretations of things. You should check out some of his other articles. His website (overclockers.com) is in my top 4 along with [H], Anand, Tom's, etc.

Why is $266 for a 3Ghz Core 2 so astonishing? It's probably just a re-branded E6600 turned up to 333MHz, which can easily be accomplished with a voltage decrease.

The only reason I can see not to do it is that people who bought E6800's for $900 will feel more stupid than they already should.

i think the more appealing proc in that list is the one above that, the quad core at $266

Looks like these prices will be real. HKEPC's english versions have now cited MB Manufacturers as sources for these price charts. Here and here. Dailytech also has an article which cites "Intel's guidance" instead of HKEPC as the source. I suppose this means the same thing as "MB manufacturers" giving "Intel's guidance" to HKEPC.

Awesome news!

That's why the E6850 is devalued:) Please note how it switches from X6800 that will end up being slower than the New E6850. I know Poncho jumped for saying it but that was BS on Intel's part from the start. Xtreme only meant unlocked multiplier LOL!

Thank goodness they didn't try to rape us like AMD did with X2.

He's not bad. I often like to read his opinions. In this case, he's wrong because the crux of his argument is that it's a "hormonal" thing. It's not. As if Intel execs don't have to answer to the board and shareholders! The biggest factor which hasn't been considered is yields. Intel's improving yields may be the reason behind these prices.

Tom's will never be on my fave website list or bookmarks list, but I wholeheartedly agree with your other points.Ed has been right allot lately, and I trust his opinions over others.

Oh yeah !!! Bring it on ! I would like to be a fly on the wall in Ruiz's office, the minute he found out about these almost fantastical price cuts.... ...That and the next board meeting at AMD.... :D Allot of cursing and swearing and "How is THAT lawsuit against
Intel coming along?" I also wonder if Hector has written his resignation yet.

How long before people start suggesting he step down. ?
