Intel E6300 OCd vs. Opteron 175

Now, how is the E6300 vs the Opteron 175?
I have only OC'd my Opteron to 2.4ghz easily but I'm wondering if I got an E6300 and OC'd it seeing as the E6300 OC's much more easily. Which one comes out better?
 
Just a visual demonstration, my E6300 is running at 3.4GHz on an older Intel board (P965) and benchmarks much higher than any AMD processor.

Now a lot depends on what you do with your machine and the added cost of a new motherboard etc. has to be factored in, and the E6300 is a little long in the tooth, I believe there is a newer 1066 buss part but I have not kept up with all the model numbers as it seems they put out new ones every couple of months. Anywho, most if not all c2d's will do 3.2GHz with only minor "tweaks" like a decent heatsink fan and 2.8GHz with the stock Intel unit is a walk in the park. If you consider a quad core the car would have not been run over, you would have just seen a HE round from the tank vaporize it.

I also wish to mention I am not some Intel fanatic, my last system (still chugging away) was an ABit NF7-s with an OCed AMD Barton Mobile chip that was the cats meow in its day. Last year when I investigated in depth the AMD vs Intel debate it became clearly apparent that while the Intel machine would cost me a bit more, the performance when OCed was such that the visual 'demonstration' is not lacking accuracy. It is unfortunate it is still the case, but there it is.
 
i am forever wondering why there are usually 10 more people on the AMD processor forum than the intel one.
 
For the E6300 should I get DDR2 - 800? Or DDR2 - 1066? What's the good "Budget" Ram for overclocking?

Pretty much everything is budget ram now, what with the ridiculous price drops we've seen in ddr2 over the past 6 months.

I think buy.com has a 2gb kit of crucial ballistix ddr2 800 that should fair well with overclocking for just $59 shipped. Others may have a difference of opinion.

Just get DDR-800 and set the memory divider to 2:1. This will give you a max FSB speed of 400mhz without O/Cing the ram (400mhz FSB x 9x multiplier is 3.6ghz). and get a good cooler.
