Sorry if I am posting on the wrong section or this has been asked before but the search didn't yield me any answers.
I recently purchased all my components to build me a new rig. After I installed Windows XP Pro w/SP2 and downloaded all the new drivers, I'd notice that my Intel E6300 CPU drivers are provided by Microsoft and they have a date of 4/1/2004 with a driver version of 5.1.2600.0 which tells me that it can not be as good as a new driver.
Went to the Intel site but all I was able to download was their analyser and I couldn't even use that as after installing it and trying to open the proggie it just hangs there forever and it doesn't do anything.
I bougth the Retail version but it didn't come with a cd or anything. I may be talking out of my butt here since I am a newbie at this but I figured that if my EVGA nForce 680i & my two BFG 7800GTX O/C have gotten the newest drivers and Bios update from the manufacturer, the E6300 shouldn't be different... am I wrong to believe this? Is there a site where I can download newer drivers for it? or, I am stock with what I have now.
