So after over a month of working on this machine, I've been through 2 bad motherboards, and a bad video card.

Now I've run into half of my memory being incompatible.

I've got a set of OCZ3RPR1600LV6GK (3x2GB) OCZ HPR Reapers 7-7-7 timing. Those work fine.

But the set of OCZ3X1600R2V6GK (3x2GB) do not.

Does anyone know of a set of memory that could work with the OCZ HPR Reapers to make 12GB? or other compatible ram?

you need to check the intel site or your manual for the ram compatability list...generally speaking gskill or corsair are pretty much compatable with most all motherboards ,at least that has been my experience....
i looked on the intel site for that board and didnt see a specific ram compatability list by approved ram thats been tested with that board...do you have the latest bios?
mite check with ocz tech support to there real friendly to speak with a rep...
its such a new board so there arent alot of users yet...another option is to call intel tech support...

Yeah, I did a google search, checked the intel site, checked the manual. There's nothing on ram compatibility.

Sadly, I may just have to be a test dummy too. I think I'll look into the corsair though..

My Intel board required low voltage memory. Your first set has the LV but the second set does not.

ive never had a motherboard that has'nt been compatable with corsair memory or for that matter gskill..
These gskill ripjaws are rated 1.5v and have worked stellar in the 3 x58 boards ive had them in...
at 1.56v they run at 1840 and at 1.5v they will run 1750....there stock rating is 1600 so not too bad ...
if i were you id opt for the 1.5v modules for better heat and they must be better modules to run at lower voltages...corsair too they have some 3/2gb kits that run 1.5v....

ive used those sticks many times in x58 builds [about 7 builds[ with a bunch of different mobo;s and they worked every time...i used to use corsair on most all builds but in the last few years gskill worked on everything ive built and looks cooler than corsair's modules in windowed cases for customers...
id be willing to bet alot that they will work on that intel board...let us know how it works out....

But the set of OCZ3X1600R2V6GK (3x2GB)

when you use this ram in the mobo in question douse the mobo in question run off the ram in question if you only use one stick of ram ?

IMO gskill and corsair seems to work on most all boards, at least the ones ive used for builds for myself and for customers..they are always my first choise when doing a build..i look on the website and if corsair modules are listed or gskill , i look to see how many different sets of ram by that manufacturer are listed as compatatable...
If there are quite a few of listed i feel confident that particular brand will work with that board..when you first get a newly released board the compatability list isnt very big so there is always that chance it wont work but ive never had it happen and ive put quite a few computers together..
even at work when im doing a standard build i use that as a rule of thumb..[I work at a mom and pop store] but anyway im glad to hear it all worked out for you...
are they running at 1.5v or 1.6v ?

I haven't gone into the bios. I just popped them in and turned the system on. I have to say, the difference between my old system and this new one is amazing.

OLD:
Q6600
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
4x2GB DDR2 800 ram
2x40GB Kingston SSDNow Raid0
GTX260

NEW:
i7 920
Intel DX58S02
6x2GB DDR3 1600
Crucial 128GB SATA3
HD6870

you know what?
imho it be nice to have a way besides using a stick of ram you know will work on a mobo to be able go in to the bios and disable SPD detection so as to be able to setup the computer on the memory topic in ultra fail safe mode \ manual mode.

my self i don't consider ram to be broken till i see it not work on a mobo that's only using one stick of ram and running it at 50% of the rams rated speed {timings + speed} and testing the ram in question on all dimm slots.
at that point if it still doesn't work then ok shuttle one to Houston, we have a problem.

cus if it douse work out then i just consider the people that made the ram to be bastards that added bogus info to the rams SPD\false marketing.
too much of that out their in computer land i swear!

ps this has nothing to do with double channel or more setups and/or pileing in the ram in a computer, when doing this its more or less a given that you have to slow the ram\memory bus down to make it stable depending on this that or the other thing.

you know us old timers use to be able to do this with jumpers and dip switch with the computer not even plunged it.
have you tried doing any of this yet ?

Nope, and I probably won't either. I'll probably just sell the ram, or hold onto it for a future build.

saddens me to hear that friend..

OCZ 3RPR1600LV6GK
OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800/ 1600MHz / Reaper HPC / Low Voltage / Triple Channel Kits / 6GB

lol just checked the rams stats.
low voltage ? 1.65v your kidding me right ? normal voltage is 1.5v so low voltage would be 1.35v, what kind of drugs are they smoking cus i want some.

btw ocz doesn't know what this number means, you shore this ram was made by ocz ?
OCZ 3X1600R2V6GK

imho you should still slow your ram down seeing as you have one set that works. loosen all timings by 50% and slow memory speed 50% just to see if it will post with the ram in question that doesn't want to work.

as well have to removed the heat spreaders on the other memory that doesn't want to work .
to help further i need to know what all the numbers are on the memory chips in question you find under the heat sinks.

When the ram is in, I can't even get into the bios. That's the problem. It REALLY doesn't work with this board.

Incompatible memory. Why do we still have these problems with Intel brand boards, sigh....

Well, by the looks of it. It's an Intel board, but it's made by MSI.

epic fail

time to move on gl, with you problem.
