Hi,

Silly question I expect but are all the Intel Core Duo's 64 bit Processors?

If so I gather they would require Windows XP 64 bit version.

Not installing that Vista piece of poo if i were to get one LOL :)

Would a 64 bit be better than 32 then I dunno if they are the same for windows?

I know i can have more than 3GB of RAM if i do though Wohoo lol

Why didn't they call em:

Core 32 Duo

Core 64 Duo

Ring em up and tell em haha

Because the "Core" CPU's are the new "Pentium" and the "Core 2" are the new "Pentium 2" Core 2 is the generation after Core "1". The difference is more than just 32 or 64 bit there are a lot of other differences.

Core 2 Duo is better than Core Duo for more reasons than just being 64-bit capable. Running a 64-bit OS will allow you to make use of 4+GB of ram. Just because the Core 2 is 64-bit doesn't mean that you have to run a 64-bit OS and Vista is far from a "piece of poo" for most people.

Cool cheers for the help guys.

I gathered Vista was poo though as all games benchmark at lower FPS than they do on XP according to the benchs i've seen on Tom's Hardware.

if you game or use professional software like Photoshop / Autocad etc... then yeah Vista is a piece of poo especially Vista 64. But to be fair the video drivers are in large part responsible. But Microsoft is responsible for the huge changes needed in the drivers... But since most of the change in the driver architecture are for the inclusion of DRM safeguards I personally blame the MPAA and Microsoft equally on why gaming on Vista suck. Because as an OS it's not bad. I think we need another 6 months at least to get good drivers on Vista.
