Hey Guys,
Im new to the forum, and was browsing around since I was having some unusual problems with my computer.
My Computer Specs:
Intel Pentium D 830 (2 x3 .0 GHz)
Asus PW5D2 Premium
Kingston Valueram 2 Gigs DDR2 PC2-4200
Maxtor Diamondmax 10 200 gig SATA
BFG Geforce 6800 Ultra OC PCI-E
XG Titanium 17IN steel tower case
Enermax EG701AX-VE Noistaker 600W PSU
Around a month ago, I was playing BF2 and realised great FPS drops, Then a while later I realised that it was using over 800mb of ram, and the cpu usage was unusually high. I never bothered about it too much, because I never used to play.
I formatted my computer around 2 weeks ago, and everything was going well because I ran aquamark (bench marking utility) and I got a score of around 66 000. Now a week later, all of a sudden everything has problems. I see great fps drops in all games and abornmal CPU usage, and even the AquaMark benchmarking utility gives me a score of less then 30 000.
I was reading around the AMD Processor sub-forum, where the dual core gaming fixes are posted, and nothing there helped me. I'm sure I would get help there since most of the AMD users usually have dual core gaming problems, But I though i'd post here, since this is Intel related.
I am using windows xp SP2 with all the latest updates (even the microsoft hotfix for dual core probs), latest nvidia driver and the most updated bios update for my mobo.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
edit:
I have had this computer for about an year now, and this is the first time I have had such problems. I am thinking its either the bios update, nvidia driver, or it can be the overheating, but it seems stable right now.
