Intel dual core gaming question

I've been through a couple of forums and it seems that owners of AMD x2 dual core cpu are having problems with some games, like poor performance, stuttering, sound glitching and a few others. Some have resolved there problems some not.

Does Intel dual core cpu suffers from the same problems ??? Unless I'm blind I didn't saw anything about Intel owners posting about it.

I thought of going with a x2 cpu but after reading about those problems I think I will settle for a single core AMD cpu, since my main concern is gaming performance. Unless Intel dual core cpu are hasslefree for gaming I might choose this path, even if I may loose some performance.

I'm mostly concern about the 900 series. Any info on this subject would be appreciated.

The problem with the X2 chips is that they need a dual core patch installed in order to run correctly. If you're a gamer then you may want to go with a single core processor. (Quake 4 and COD2 do support dual core processors via a dual core patch, but they are the only two games I can think of at the minute). I cannot comment on how the Pentium D chips game because I've never owned one, but I will find out this weekend when I install Doom 3 on my girlfriends Pentium D 830 rig. They're plently of Intel gamers on these forums that game with dual core processors so I would PM one of them if I were you.
 
Never had any problems gaming, but as has been said, most games use single core for now. That will change.

The 900 series chips have been the best P4 chips Intel's made. If you're an overclocker, you can easily get a 930 up to 4ghz on air (hell, even on stock air) which make it a very potent gaming CPU - a much better purchase than many of AMD's current offerings. I haven't noticed any glitching, but I haven't played too many games yet.
 
I have an AMD x2. Never installed any patches or anything and my games run just fine. BF2, FEAR, WoW, all perfect. I have no idea why people have issues with the X2's.
 
I haven't experiences any problems, yet. But I've only played a few games (BF2, SoF2, Wolf ET, Q4) since I installed my new 920D. Mostly play BF2.
 
no the intel dual cores are great, ive mostly bought intel for the last 5 or 6 years and ive never come across anything they made that has poor performance

The patches are out there and any system can be set to use One processor anyway.
