How is Intel Dual-Core E5300, 2,6GHz 2MB L2 compared to
AMD Athlon 64 LE-1660, 2,8GHz 512KB L2
is there a big difference or in reality pretty much the same?

right now i got athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 3800+ will there be a significant difference? (i dont use my pc for games)

The E5300 should be faster since core2 has a significantly better IPC than k8.

However if this switch costs you more than $50 to $75 USA I would not bother. All 3 are low end systems today.

If you consider overclocking the E5300 would be a descent upgrade. You should be able to hit 3.2 GHz without much effort.
