Since this is a video conversion related topic I figured it would be fitting to place it here.

What is your opinion on quality of final product when you use Intel I7 Sandy Bridge vs AMD Stream encoding?

Im having a difficult discerning the difference but others may not.

Im using a P67 chipset so I can't tap into the Intel Quicksync functions.

Im trialing Arcsoft Media Converter 7 right now.

I dont anticipate too much feedback on this question but any might help.
Thanks.

Are you talking about the speed of the conversion process, or the actual quality of the video when it's completed?

I would assume the CPU should not come into play where the video quality is concerned at all. The software you're using to convert the video should make all the difference. If you're having quality issues with the end product, you should try different software. I haven't used the Arcsoft Media Encoder - usually use Adobe products, and I haven't had any issues with the video quality at all.

As far as which CPU is faster for video encoding in general, I'm not sure - haven't been keeping up with the latest and greatest so much lately, but I would think an i7 @ 3+ ghz should be plenty of firepower, unless you want to look into multi-proc workstations or something.
