hi everyone. i am getting this error message when my computer boots up. does anyone know why?
intel cpu ucode loading eror
primary slave driver atapi incompatible

Your sig lists an AMD 3800, but you have an intel board, so which CPU are you using? Does that board support the CPU? What changes, if any, were made to the system prior to this error?

no sorry. thats my old computer. i just got this new one. its a core 2 duo pentium. i bought it as a barebone. i actually have this procesor to be specific. Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor

usually this means your motherboard doesn't recognize your model of cpu. it will run fine, it just doesn't know exactly what kind of cpu you have. try updating your bios.

so go to your motherboard maker website and download the new bios. put on floppy and flash to the newest bios.

that should fix your problem.

Thank you s4. now what should i do if i dont have a floppy drive?
Sometimes (especially with ASUS boards), board makers include a flashing tool in the bios. Check you bios for an EzFlash menu. If it is there, you should be able to flash the bios using a USB stick. If not, you can still flash a bios using a USB stick, you just have to learn how to set the sitck up so the mobo will boot from it.

some mobo manufacturers also let you flash while in windows. But if window freezes while updating your bios itll leave you without a booting system.
