Intel CPU processor stress tests

using intel stress test on my x5670 (dual so 12cores)

it's barely making a dent but temps have risen... so that's good.

only about 50% of the total availability now...

oh man... it's hitting 70C... that's probably not good right? lol anything over 60C is bad...

Intel tuning utility is good. Prime95 is okay, but don't use newer versions (after version 26.6) on haswell or skylake CPUs. It uses AVX2 in such a way that it causes extreme current draw and can damage a CPU. Older versions (26.6 or earlier) are fine.

are you overclocking? what cooler and ambient temperature are you using?. 70C it's the temperature of the Cores or the CPU package?. what are you using to measure temps?

^screencap

looks like it's only the last core of the 2nd CPU...

should i re-seat the 2nd CPU? i am using arctic silver... is there anything better nowaddays?

why such huge difference between both CPUS?. are you using different coolers for both chips?. almost 20C its just huge.. but anyway far away of being any reason to worry even if both CPUS were are peaking at 70C each core.. you should worry above 85C in the cores. and 65C for the entire CPU package...

Dual 1366 boards usually have the cpu sockets so close together the heat from cpu1 goes straight into cpu2. I have the same problem on my board.

you can run 90C easy, calm down

IBT will heat them the most IMO

i'm running it inside Dell PowerEdge T610, so it's stock heatsink+standard server fan design.

so... this is normal/OK or ... should i re-seat/re-apply AS5?

temp differentials across the die CAN be a TIM or uneven mounting pressure issue

but can also be the nature of the chip you have, you just have to experiment to really know
