Thanks, but almost anything beats my 3.0 GHz Northwood at 800 MHz FSB.

E6750 = 2.66GHz/1.33GHz FSB
E6600 = 2.4GHz/1.066GHz FSB

Maybe you meant to compare the E6700, which is a 2.66GHz/1.066GHz FSB CPU. And that makes the model name very logical.

No, what I'm saying is that if you take an E6600 and run it at 333FSB with an 8X multi you get 2.66...which is exactly what an E6750 is...
The E6750 is an 8X multi chip.8 X 333 =2.6
The E6600 is a 9 X multi chip. 9 X266 =2.4 or run it at 8 X 333 for 2.6 and you have your E6750

The E6600 could in theory run a 1:1 ratio with 800Mhz ddr 2 ram at 3.6 GHz
It is using less FSB clock rate than the E6750 which is running a 8x multi, and 1333 FSB (quad data rate) which means that 800Mhz ram would only allow for 3.2Ghz before you have to overclock the ram at a 1:1 ratio.

So if overclocking is your thing, I still think the E6600 is the better choice.....unless you want to buy more expensive PC8500
 
Steppings are different. e6750 uses the G0 stepping. I honestly don't know how much of a difference that makes for overclocking outside of the quadcores, but hey, it's a difference.
