I know we don't know for sure when the price drops will happen exactly. What I was wondering was: will the prices drop in an incremental fashion over the next 3 months, or will the prices stay at their current levels for 3 months and then drop like a rock overnight? For example in the last 3 months iirc the E6600 on Newegg has dropped ~$15 so far. Will we wake up one morning and find it at $220?

Intel is going to cut the price of its processors to OEMs and retailers in 1000-unit quantities in Q2 07. I would expect that prices will drop pretty quickly as soon as that happens. Usually price cuts happen pretty fast.

its Q2 07 so its another 3 months til that price drops to 220 then jackpot im dropping my dough then

Why don't you guys also tell me what Intels stock price will be 6 months from now.

When they say Q2, that could be anywhere from April 1 to June 30...anyone know of a more definite time?

From what I've read it points to April. Still wayyyy too long if you want to upgrade now.

Thanks for the info. I can wait until April, so that's fine w/me. Gives me some time to do some planning. Also, there should be some additional 650i mobo's out there which are within my price range.

Lol, I know that It will be April 22nd and I was going to wait, but I cant! I have to get my E6600 now. On the 22nd, the E6600 will be $220 instead of $315, which is a considerable drop. From what I've heard, most of the C2D's are going to drop from $85-$100. Yay for that.
