Intel Core i7 920 Processor Boxed - $199 again!

I'm considering getting one but people do bring up the point of the i930. Is there any rumored release dates or is it kind of like waiting for an eventuality but no evidence it'll be here soon?

Think it's expected late Feb to March. I'll keep my 920 sealed until then unless the mobo I want comes out first. Either way you could probably still make your money back on the 920 on ebay if the 930 does turn out to be significantly improved, and MC doesn't have deals like this on them.

Actually, even the later C0's were clocking just as well as the new D0's at the time. The chances of you finding a C0 are slim to none though.

For what it's worth, I got my D0 from the NJ MC in December (3941B047 batch) and it isn't one of the greatest overclockers comparatively speaking. I need 1.35V in order to keep it stable at 4GHz with HT on (and yes I do use it) but the hottest core never sees above 77C, with the rest in the mid to low 70s. Even still it does everything just fine from playing games to encoding videos. Unless your goal is to break world records, you'll be fine with whatever you end up getting.

My 3941B047 will run 4ghz@ less than 1.3v (will have to see what the voltage is right now, havent tested too low. I think 1.25v lowest so far no problems). I will agree though that this chip runs warmer than my others.

Any idea how long this sale will last?

I am sure it will run off & on for a while with slight changes with new processors along the way.

I am kind of curious how long they plan to keep the 920's and if they will have something better for the same price or close to it. I guess I need to go do my homework

went to the sunnyvale location today for one of these, then over to fry's for two of their $70 hitachi 1TBs. i was just wondering if batch#3941B075 is a good overclocker?

thanks for the heads up OP!

3941B075 is a bad batch for a B batch. It's actually worse than typical A batch.
I've played with 3 of 3941B075 and 5 of various A batches. All A batches overclocked better than the 3.

WOOT Just grab one this weekend cause i knew this wouldn't last long! Man do I feel justified driving an hour to grab one now.
