intel core 2 duo e6400 idle-load temps

what are the idle-load temps for a core 2 duo e6400 at 2.13 ghz(not OCed). trying to find out so i know what temp to set the alarm to on the fan controler. using a zalman cnps7000b cu
 
Everyone's situation is different so why not try running CoreTemp v.0.95 to get some numbers for your system.

I've run my E6400 up to the Intel max of 85C without any problems. It couldn't go any higher because the Intel thermal throttling kicked in to keep it at a safe temp. With your Zalman you'll never get anywhere near 85C as long as the fan keeps spinning.

If the fan dies, don't worry. Your C2D is designed to take care of itself.
 
I know this has probably been discussed many times before, but while on the subject, is there any definitive way to tell which program is most accurately monitoring the temps.

Nvidia monitor and everest report the same cpu temps for me,
and core temp reports temps that are 10 degrees higher under full load.

While idle, the temps are pretty even so I can't compare against bios.

Thought i'd just ask, thanks :D
 
There were some problems with SpeedFan v.4.32 and CoreTemp 0.94 with the new E4300 processors but that has been fixed in CoreTemp v.0.95.

I've yet to hear of a motherboard or Intel processor that isn't being reported correctly by CoreTemp v.0.95.
 
unclewebb, you appear to be a plethora of knowledge on these C2D's, thanks for all the info, you helped me get my rig stable at 3.2.

I report idle temps of 44c and loads of 68c-72c with coretemp .95.

Stock speeds show load temps of only 55c-58c.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. :D

I've been researching the C2D like a man possessed and posting way too much but it's paid off with a fast stable system for myself. Glad I was able to help other people get their systems up to speed too.

It took a cold day but I finally reached my goal as one of the fastest OEM cooled C2Ds in the [H] OC database. I think I'm about ready for a break, at least until the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme arrives at my local store. Then I can get serious and see what my E6400 can really do!

thanks for the web site. i wanted some thing to see them temp. mine are at 29c
