Another Intel Compute Stick review has popped up on the internet today. This time around it is the crew at Legit Reviews doing the reviewing.

One of the products that Intel has been working on in recent months is the Intel Compute Stick. The Intel Compute Stick was designed to allow users around the world to quickly and easily make any HD television a computer. Like it or not it appears that we are entering the era of having an entire PC on an stick!

gizmodo's review was pretty honest. dont buy it, maybe get the chrome bit or wait for tech to get better.

I expect that they will double the cpu power, and built in storage, and triple the ram in the next year or so. They will really be ready for prime time then.

NO it was dishonest. The reviewer had no idea what he was doing or how to get a proper setup. It was all whining about how you need other things to make it work. The wifi being too weak for streaming is true for ANY device of that class. Further, he said he cant get overscan, and thats true, but only at 1080p. Lower resolutions can do overscan. Its a chipset limitation.

I dont think the PC stick is great, but the Gizmodo review is a hack.

i just don't get why they made 2 different models, with the linux-based model getting 1/2the RAM and 1/4 the storage capacity.

i could understand maybe getting 1/2 the RAM, depending on the desktop environment, but linux users need storage just as much as windows users, and cutting the storage to only 8GB is just ridiculous...especially for the minimal price difference between them.

i'd be interested to see if it will be possible (and/or easy) to install the lesser model's linux image onto the higher-end unit.

the only thing i expect of a device is that it accomplishes what it was aimed for.

if i buy a compute stick for streaming media, i do expect it to be capable of wireless streaming at 1080p.
32gb of storage is kind of moronic for a x86 device, as it will be impossible to update Windows regularly. not having a good wi-fi solution only make matters worst, as i can not trust remote storage to bypass the limited space available locally. lose-lose situation.

what i would like:
robust wifi solution, like 3x3MiMo dual band
64gb storage, so i can run windows locally without issues.

i do not care about memory, cpu performance or bigger storage, as long as it is capable of good wifi links and does not crash during windows updates.

Wireless streaming sucks, even my Android TV uses wired (with an adapter). Wireless is a HACK, not the optimal solution. IF you want trouble free streaming, use a wire.
