Intel Broadwell Architecture Preview

Broadwell is essentially following AMD down the APU path...

Everyone in the know knows that AMD are the ones who really know what they are doing. :D

<3 AMD.

No, that's not it at all. Did you even read the article? The iGPU is still a small portion of the die, and it's still as integrated with the CPU as it was all the way back to Sandy Bridge (AMD will catch up with that one day). :p

The slide deck Intel presented today has to do with Core M, the Broadwell update of the previous "Y" ultra low power SoCs, and 14nm in general. The speeds haven't been released yet, but Intel is showing Core M can be suitable for fanless 9mm thick form factors (i.e. tablets/convertible tablets), suggesting a TDP in the 5W-7W range.

As to your other point, while Intel did release its first CPU with integrated GPU (Clarkdale) over a year before AMD released Brazos (and over a 1.5 years before Llano launched), Broadwell is not Intel's first GPGPU enabled CPU: that was Ivy Bridge, released about 8 months after Llano. All that suggests is that both companies continue further integration of functionality on-die, but what do I know? I'm not an insane fanboy. ;)

...and all you delidders better watch out for those tall fins, or you'll crush them.;)

It's pretty incredible if you think about the speed this is moving. If only the OS devs could keep up and really optimize for the processors capabilities.

NVidia and AMD should pay Intel to use their fabs to make GPU's, look how far behind they are in the process size.

Looks awesome, but I still plan on keeping my 2500K until Skylake.

I agree, the software side of things is lagging behind.

Look up how Intel and others rate their process sizes. A lot of it is marketing.

This isn't completely marketing, other fabs are just building out FINFET production as Intel is about to release a revision of their design.
