Hey all,

Doing the preliminary research for a high-end system I'm building for a relative. Stability and features (plus Core 2 support) is more important than tweaking. So while expensive, my first choice for mainboard is the Intel "Bad Axe" D975XBXLKR.

I can buy it retail, or OEM.

Other than the fancy packaging, the model number is the same, so is the warranty. Does anyone know if there are accessories/features removed by Intel from the OEM version? I'll gladly buy OEM, provided they didn't strip anything, and save the money. It may not seem like much, but 20 bucks is 20 bucks when you're helping out family. :)
 
Don't know about the OEM, but my retail board came with IDE cables, SATA cables, front panel audio and usb breakout, and then the drivers and motherboard screws, etc.

This is desktop board D975XBX with 2 digital audio out connectors (1 coaxial, 1 optical), 8 SATA and 3 IEEE-1394b Ports.

Retail looks like it's the stripped down version without these. There are actually 2 versions of this board, one with and one without the digital audio out connectors. Then each of those versions come in retail and oem packaging.

According to this link from Intel, the one without the digital audio connectors has a different model name, the LAD975XBXLKR instead of the BLKD975XBXLKR. It's hard to tell if retail box model I linked still has both digital audio connectors, but I would think so for the extra price. Then again, the OEM board actually states it is the model with the two digital outs.
