Help.

I have an Intel Bad Axe 2 w/ E4300, Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, and Windows Vista 32. The e4300 is moderately overclocked (2.3ghz) and I'd like to reduce the CPU fan speed (to ~1200rpm) in order to minimize noise. Right now the fan runs at a constant 34 degrees and 2140 rpm unless I use IDCC to reduce it manually; The MB will not throttle the fan automatically. Is there anyway to control the fan speed from the BIOS without using IDCC (it's not Vista compatible :-()

Thanx ... msg

If you figure something out, please, let me know as well.

I've running Windows XP and still not able to use ANYTHING to control the cpu fan speed.

Mine is running at 4,000 rpm and it's a bit annoying.

I've enabled / dis-enabled all the bios options, tried Speed-Fan ... nothing. Even Intels own app does nothing.

I would love to get 2500 rpm, I think that would be perfect.

I've running Windows XP ...

Are you sure your CPU fan is capable of being controlled by the BIOS? IDCC works fine for me under XP, my problem is that IDCC isn't compatible with Vista.

It sounds trite, but have you considered a new fan? You're using an aftermarket cooler so maybe switch to a quiet fan, a yate loon or an S-flex perhaps.
