Intel already showing quad core xeons that can be used in pairs on dual socket motherboards?

is this just like 4x4 from amd than?
 
They also have four quad cores in servers for 16 processors. They are also releasing chips with 6 MB per CPU for 24 MB cache per chip. Things are moving along quickly.
 
No this is not like 4x4. Intel's dual quad-core setup is a server platform, while AMD's QuadFX (4x4) is a desktop platform. It's just the natural progession of thing in the server market.
