The 1567 will be for MP systems and will not be affordable by any stretch for consumers.
If you guys think your Xeon 55** are pricey you might want the kids to go in the other room before you check prices.

Yeah I don't expect affordable 6 or 8 cores for end user/desktop til Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge.

but its my jobs budget not mine lol. and sad enough it will get used 3-4 times then sit on the shelf like the rest of the hardware we have at work.
It looks like Beckton will replace Dunnington, which means these are strictly 'MP' processors and likely will never see desktop or workstation-level incarnations. We never saw a Core2 hex-core in S775 or S771 but it does exist with the Dunnington 7400-series Xeons. Of course, things can change if AMD pushes 8-core processors to the lower end markets quickly. Intel will definitely follow suit, you can bet on that.
Becton uses a new socket and has a 4-channel memory controller. Its closest competition on the AMD side is Magny-Cours, which will definitely not be coming to desktops, so there's pretty much no chance of that happening with Beckton either.
My thoughts exactly. Octal cores will come to the desktop/workstation markets using different motherboard architectures. At this point, I have no idea what that will be for either manufacturer.
