Any thoughts on the Intel 510 Series (Elm Crest) SSDSC2MH120A2K5 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD). I am planning on using this one as a OS drive in my new build.

Thanks,
Brett

Pretty fast and reliable drive. Sandforce based drives are certianly faster but they seem to have reliability/bsod issues. Some people are problem free others are having chronic issues with theirs.

Another to consider is the Crucial M4, specifically after the *09 firmware. The M4 and 510 share the same controller if I'm not mistaken but the firmwares are difference hence the different performance.

I've been using a 510 on my main system since they first were released, no issues.

I have four of these and they all work flawlessly. I also have one M4 that I have been extremely happy with. If I had to do it over again, I would probably opt for all M4 drives in order to save a little $$. It seems to be on par with the Intel performance wise, the reliability also appears to be comparable, and it is 20% to 25% cheaper (on sale).

I've had enough issues with a previous generation of SF drives that I decided to completely avoid them this time around.

I also have the 510 and C400 (AKA M4) and both are solid. Get the M4/C400 just to save a few bucks.
