Intel 2011 socket CPU

So no 8/12cores for me in the near future? Looks like my 3960X will stay with me for a couple more years.

8 cores have been here since March, just need to use a supported motherboard like the P9X79 WS or an Asrock and grab a E5-2650 or higher.

I got the Rampage IV extreme and the 3930k. Using the AI Suite auto clocking to 4.25GHZ no issues.

After Effects just loves the extra threads when rendering.

I also went overboard and picked up 64GB of Ripjaw Z 1600 series ram. Not the fastest but it works with the board.

If I let it After Effects will use ~55GB of ram (depending on what its doing) It really speeds up the RAM preview as well, however not as fast as I expected. There maybe a setting i'm missing for that.

The 3930k is one hell of a CPU if you have uses for it.

is it confirmed that ivy - E is going to be on the x79 socket? what gives on ending z77 so quick?

Do you put a lot of load on the CPU? have you ever made it kneel?

I know :( To bad Newegg don't ship to Europe.

There are stores like newegg across EU, the reason why stuff is more expensive is due to high VAT, while VAT is high in EU and you pay more for goods, you pay less income tax, which is I think 30% compared to 50% in US. Not sure where the norway lays in this case as it is not state of EU and EU laws doesn't apply there.

I think you getting confused between Intel's mainstream line (socket 1155) and their premium line (socket 2011).

This link should help clear things up for you: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/di..._End_Ivy_Bridge_E_Chips_in_Q3_2013_Slide.html

2 years of socket 1155 before Haswell comes out sounds about right.
