Integrated Graphics?

It's ass compared to a GeForce MX. Don't expect it to be able to do much more than display Windows programs and that 3d screen-saver. Laptops use integrated graphics to save battery power and to make a smaller laptop. And they're cheaper.
 
So counter-strike is a no go? How about starcraft? In general, what games can I play on it.

It's not meant for a gaming laptop, but going back and from school during the weekends, it might prove to be worthwhile.
 
It should play Starcraft ok. I will go out on a limb and suggest that it will also play Counterstrike (NOT Source) acceptably as well. Just so long as your expectations aren't sky-high.
 
It's okay, you should be able to play some games with all the minimum settings...But personnelly I would stay away from intel's intergrated graphics...When spending a good amount on a laptop, sometimes it pays to save a little more to get a better laptop solution..

Starcraft is fine. It's not a 3d program. Hell, I ran Starcraft on a 2MB PCI video card when it first came out.
 
Onboard GFX is horrendous. Media Accel. 900, 9100 IGP, and S3 UniChrome II (Which im using right now) wont even run CS1.6 higher than 800x600 with ANY settings. ITs only good for 2D web browsing and AOL :eek:

Speaking of AOL, I saw a woman and her husband buying one of them "AOL Optimized PC's" at CompUSA the other day.

I will defently play the orignal CS and start craft jsut fine you have my word..i own one like it..I hate CS, but my cusion plays on my laptop sometimes, he runs 800x600 no problems...

shit my old ti86 caculator can run old CS...

It lacks the 800 MHz FSB found on newer P4s, but other than that it's quite fast. At least you'll be able to use your laptop for more than 30 minutes :p

I played CS with integrated laptop graphics for years, but that was pretty much it. Well, HL and blue shift and that other one too. But you shouldn't expect CS:S to like integrated at all. Or any games made in the past year either.
 
Well to say the Intel 828 chip is ass is an understatement. It's amazing how many people read system specs for games and think that they meet the requirements because they have enough RAM. However if you want to play games with it, here's a list of what will work. Just don't expect them to be on the level of quality even an MX card can do.

not laptop related, but I decided to throw WoW on my server which uses a biostar km266 pro matx motherboard with UniChrome 2D/3D Graphics (whatever that is).

I was surprised I actually got it to run, albeit rather choppy. With a geforce 3 in there, it runs like a champ.

Bullshit. I run CSS on the comp in my sig without the 9600 Pro in it at 1024x768 @ Medium Qual and it runs fine. The 9100IGP is good compared to the rest of the integrated market.

Both are yes-go's! I play counterstrike on my 4 or 8 mb 3dfx card, at 800 by 600 with medium settings and get 20-30 fps.
