Integrated 6150SE with error 43

I am trying to get the integrated graphics to work with my 9800GT so I can have three monitors running on my system. I make the needed changes in the bios and boot but I still only have access to 2 monitors.

I check the Device Manager and I am greeted with a yellow exclamation point and the error "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".

I tried installing the latest drives from nVidia, no change. I even tried with the "wipe out old driver" choice. I reset the bios, checked the make sure I had the most recent bios update, still nothing.

If I remove the 9800GT and just boot with Integrated everything is fine.

It is running on a Zotac GF6100-C-E and a 500W PSU.

Any ideas on the cause?
 
because that board doesn't support hybrid SLI so you can't do that. you either run one or the other. your only choice is running 2 dedicated cards for 3 displays or invest in a new card that allows 3 video outputs from a single card, e.g. HD5k or HD6k series card.
 
The thing that confuses me when I plus a second video card in a "Dual Monitor Support" option comes up in the Bios. If I don't set that to enabled the 6150 doesn't show up in Windows. If the board can't support it, why would they include that option?

I don't want any kind of SLI, I just want to video cards running side by side on the PCIE bus. I thought this was possible without any kind of SLI.
 
I may be wrong, but I think the chipset itself supports dual monitors, but it is up to the board manufacturer to actually add a physical video connector to enable such functionality. The only reason I can think of for it showing up in windows is because it migh enable some extra hardware in the chipset to be detected that does is normally disabled to save power.

Sirmonkey1985 is correct though, the board/chipset does not support the kind of setup you are trying to accomplish, only way is to get a single card that supports 3+ monitors, such as ATI 5k or 6k series, or one of those dual gpu cards (9800GX2+ I think? may be wrong).
 
:sigh: looks like I will have to deal with two monitors for a while. Maybe I will pick up a PCI card to throw in with my 9800GT. Maybe I would be better off looking for a second 23" Acer when they go up for $90.
