Ok..I got the gigabyte ga-7n400 pro2 rev2 mb..im trying to install windows on my 76gig raptor and when i put the windows boot/install cd in..it cant find my sata ports/hd, so i reboot and hit f6 to install 3rd party drivers..only for it to ask me for a floppy disk of which i dont have.
A. dont have the floppy disk, B. dont have a floppy drive..it would be absolutely stupid to purchase a floppy drive and cable to use it once just to install windows on this drive...theres gotta be another way...help?
 
Pain in the butt, but unless you've got a bootable USB key that you can use like a legacy drive, you're between a floppy disk and a hard place. Not to be a smartass, but you were able to post this somehow, so pull the floppy & cable from that PC (unl;ess it's a laptop then my theory is screwed) and use it to build your new one. ZANG!

This is one thing that pissed me off about the AMD side of the house. Intel's chipsets don't need any extra drivers loaded, unless your enabling the RAID functionality. I'm reading a lot on the forums about people needing to hit F6 even when they aren't using RAID.

My suggestion is to find or borrow a floppy...load the OS, and then create a clean Ghost image. That way when you need to "reformat", you don't need the floppy....just lay down the image.
 
I did a drive-to-drive copy from my 250g to the raptor, but when i unplug all my other hds the raptor goes to boot windows for about a fraction of a second..then reboots my pc.. =/
so i just formatted it and am stuck with going to buy a floppy disk and cable just to install windows on this drive..maybe i'll return both the drive and cable after, haha
 
i guess i could...someday the mighty neverending floppy drive might be useful again..
