Installing Windows 8 over pre-installed Windows 10

I'm buying a new laptop, but it has to have Windows 8 on it. Can I just buy a system with Windows 10 pre-installed, buy a System Builder OEM copy of Windows 8 from Amazon, and then wipe the hard drive and install Windows 8 from scratch? I know most systems that come pre-installed with Windows 10 store the license key in the UEFI/BIOS. Would this cause any problems when I try to install Windows 8? Would using a Windows 8 OEM key be an issue with a computer that previously had Windows 10 on it?
 
No issue at all. What exactly is the reason win 10 wont work? A needed program only woks on Win 8?
 
I still see laptops for sale with with 8.1 pre-installed but perhaps not the latest hardware.
 
I'd probably install Windows 8 or 7 in a VM and leave Windows 10 like it is. It's likely to be very painful to get Windows 8 on and go back to Windows 10 later.
 
I highly doubt your app won't work on windows 10, if it works on windows 8. It's possible, but unlikely.

I would be very skeptical that it wouldn't work in Windows 10 too.

But I would install 7 before going back to 8. If they're telling you it won't work in 7 either, you gotta question who's defining the requirement.

yea i was kinda thinking that myself, but some commercial applications are almost made that way on purpose to milk more money out of people for the new versions that just happen to cost 900 bucks:)..it does happen
