I was installing a new stick of ram in my PC, and now it won't post. The monitor doesnt turn on, and there are no beeps whatsoever. It's a Dell 4550, P4 2.4b, not sure what kind of mobo.

I tried putting the original RAM back in, but that dosn't work. Then I tried resetting the bios, no go. Any other ideas I can try?

I have killed RAM by putting it in wrong and powing up but never killing a computer.....

the mobo still lights up. i've tried three diff ram sticks, and none of them help the pc boot up. So, my guess is the mobo.

Put the original RAM back in, reset the CMOS and turn the system on. If it still doesn't boot you'll have to use the stripped-down approach to determine which part is at fault.
