Installing new processor - C2D E6750 - Couple quick questions

This is the first Intel chip ive had in many years and I was suprised to see there were no pins on the CPU, and there is a little door that gets closed over it before you mount the heat sink...

My questions are... Do I need to put thermal paste on the CPU core, AND on the top of the metal door that gets closed? Or does the door provide good enough thermal conductivity on its own?

Sorry for the noob question, just want to make sure i dont do something wrong...

The stock heat sink has the thermal past already on it. Follow the instructions that you received with the processor/motherboard. You open the door first, insert the cpu the right way, close the door, lock it down, and add the heatsink.
 
Put the processor in the socket, put down the door, Latch it, put the thermal paste on, put the heatsink on.

I did read the insturctions, but I figured I'd scrape off the paste that it came with and buy some arctic silver (used it alot in the past and always had good results). Just wasnt sure if adding some between the CPU core and the door itself would help or not.

None on the "Door" as it only holds the edges of the CPU down. Now if you mean that plastic cover that fully covers the slot.....Hecks no, that is just there for protection until you stick a CPU in, once you do you toss that into your box o goodies incase you need it later
 
keep the plastic cover, you will need it if you have to rma the board, or ship it somewhere. the pins are on the mainboard with intel, and they are very fragile.
