Hi I am finally going from vista to Win7 and I bought a new HD for new OS. How difficult is it to switch HD and install new OS into current PC? I know you have to go into BIOS and change boot from DVD drive is this all I need to do or am I missing steps? Here are specs for PC MB Asus P5N-E-SLI
CPU Q9400 2.66
Ram 4 gig OZC
VC XFX 5770 1Gig
700Watt OCZ PSU
 
It's really straight forward; you don't even always need to change the boot order.

1) Enter BIOS, ensure boot order is properly set
2) Insert Windows disk into drive
3) Reboot computer, allow computer to boot off Windows CD
4) Follow the instructions provided by the Windows installer

That's all there is to it, it's pretty straight forward. Obviously you'll need to plug in SATA and SATA-Power cables to the drive as well, but that's pretty obvious :)

You may not have to change anything in the bios at all. Just install the new drive insert the disc and reboot. There will be nothing to boot on the new hdd so it should jump to the optical drive. That is unless you turned off booting the optical drive.
 
Most pre-built computers come with boot from DVD first in boot priority.

I prefer always having the HDD set as the default, then using the motherboards boot menu to select the DVD drive if I'm updating. It's usually esc, F8, F10 or F12.
