This follows along with my other threads in making a NAS. I've had a few people suggest EVMS in Linux for this and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how exactly to install it. I'm running CentOS with a Gnome front end, but can't find anything online in regards to loading EVMS. Can anyone help?

I have no idea. I like Debian. But I'll download the ISOs (just for you <3) and see what I can find out.

Damn, that's pretty hardcore. You don't need to go through all that unless you really want to know. CentOS is a version of Red Hat. There's just no basic tutorial on how to hook it all up. I have the server itself built and the OS loaded. I ended up with a microATX board running a PentD 805 dual core with DDR ram. The 4 on board sata ports are for the storage drives and I added a 2 port card for the system drive. The board has on board everything pretty much and the case itself looks really clean. Hopefully I can get this up and running soon.

VMware makes it easy ;) And I have 5/2 FIOS, so it took me about 1:15 to get ithe 4-disk torrent last night.

I wouldn't be able to give relevant advice about how to install without an RPM-based distro. All I have around is Debian and my own distro. Probably good to get some diversity around anyways ;)

1) Get and install rpmforge.
2) "sudo yum update". It'll take a while to add the new repository. It'll probably download some packages, too (30 megs in my case, but only 8 packages from rpmforge).
3) "yum search evms".
4) "sudo yum install evms.i386".

Now evms is installed; to run it do "sudo /sbin/evmsn" or just "evmsn" as root. I haven't tried actually *doing* anything with it, you may need kernel patches, but that's a bit more complex and I don't want to do that if I don't have to. I suggest you leave the root and boot volumes alone lest you end up with an unbootable system.
