i bought ECS nforce 570 mobo. The specification says that it is compatible to pentium 4. But i couldnt fit the cpu into the motherboard.

I searched the internet and found this:
http://www.waterwheel.com/Guides/how_to/cpu/CPU.htm

The article says that the CPU intended for the 775 socket does not have any pins below. My 3.2gig pentium 4 has pins. So does that mean that the specifications lie?

The processor family is not the same thing as the socket type.

Pentium 3 & 4 have come in various socket types. Same thing with AMD, Athlon64's can be socket 754, 939, or AM2.

EDIT: Post digital pics of your CPU and somebody here will tell you exactly what it is.

is your p4 socket 478 or socket t (775)? that board is socket t. if it is, in fact, an intel nforce 570 board.
