Just setting up a new family computer/HTPC I just put together... of course I'll be folding on it.

I installed F@H console on the administrator account which will only ever be used for installing programs.. but I want F@H to start up once the computer is turned on. Does installing F@H as a service make it so that F@H runs even before any of the user accounts are logged in? I'd like it to start running at the welcome screen if that's possible. I didn't think it did this because I tried logging in to a different account, and CPU usage was not 100%. Maybe I did something wrong though.

installing F@H as a service does start it up when the computer starts up rather then when someone logs on.. so even if its sitting at the welcome screen it'll be foling. So it would appear you have not started the service or restarted the computer since you installed it.

In all my Windows service installs of FAH, they all show up as folding when at the login screen. When you did the configuration steps, there is one question that asks what percentage cpu usage you want .... I think it defaults to 100% , but you might want to stop the service, run it from command line with -configonly to check your configuration, then restart the service.

make sure the firewall isnt blocking work units from coming in.

Ok that's good to know, thanks.

I am not sure why it wasn't working. I just deleted the config file and redid everything. I always install it as a service for every PC I fold with, so not sure why this one didn't work.

run regedit from the command line:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\
and scroll down to you fah entry
the imagepath should have -svcstart if one instance
or -svcstart -local if you runnning multiple
