So I just installed Windows 7, and my computer takes forever to start up. It doesn't even get to the login page; it gets to the page where it says Starting Windows and then it just hangs on a black screen. I thought it might have been the hard drive, so I bought a new one, and used a different Windows 7 dvd my friend used for his install. It's doing the same thing, so I know its not the dvd or my hard drive.

Could my motherboard or something else be the reason why my computer is hanging? I had Vista, and it worked perfectly fine.

Is your system overclocked? Perhaps it's a issue with bad memory? You could try a Linux Live CD, and see if you can boot into Linux, without having to install anything to your hard drive.

Nothing is overclocked. I'll see if it's the memory, and then I'll try the Linux Live CD.
