Installed new drive, but....

it does not show up in My Computer or anything, in the add hardware wizard thing its there, and it is in the BIOS but not in My COmputer

My new drive is a Seagate 120 gig 7200.7
ABIT IC7-MAX3
2x wd Raptors in RAID 1 via SATA

Ok, can we get a sticky about installing harddrives.

You need to format and assign it a drive letter through computer management. under admin tools in control panel.

If its brand new it has to 1st be "initialized", then parttioned then formated!

Easiest way to do it in windows with no additional software :

(assuming you have XP (I think non pro will do this too)

In Control Panel goto admin tools>Computer mamagement>storage>disk management
right click on the new disk and if needed "initialized, then partion and finally format!

And yes, you have to initialize/format/assign drive letter to a new HDD. Rightclick on My Computer > Manage > Storage: Disk Management.
