Hi,please some help!!!!!.


I just build a new system, but its been 3 days and i cannot install an OS in the machine, I've done everything and I dont lie every single thing I've found on internet to try to get it runing. My system is this:

ASUS P5B-VM
4 gig Samsung DDR2 667 (2 x 2gigs)
Samsung SATA HD 400 gigs (HD400LJ)
Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 2.4 ghz
HP dvd 1070i
No video card, no sound card, nothing else.

I've tried installing XP 64 bit but it freezes on "Setup is starting windows", Windows vista ultimate 64 bit but it gets me BSOD with different messages being the most common IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I've tried installing Win XP 32 (the one that gets me more hope) but when the machine is trying to format the disk it reboots. I've tryed to disconect the HD and use the installation disks but they keep freezing or rebooting even when the HD is not conected. I've tried a lot of BIOS tweaks and one of the best results was to downgrade it to previous versions (the new version didn't even let me get into the Terms and conditions page of win XP installation) So I am running out of ideas, the worst part is that I dont have any other machine to check if the parts work one by one. By the way I tried the memtest that comes with the installation of Win vista but with some BIOS configuration it freezes and with some other (usually the DDR frequency changed) it just gets my display with bars of diferent colours. Update

Ive also used only one stick of ram in the different slots and no luck. Last nigth i was trying with win xp again and i realize that if i do quickly the seection of partition in my HD and try to installl the OS it gets me to the screen where it says is going to format my disk but then it reboots avery time, the weird thing is that if i delay in one of the previous srceens (terms and conditions, partition selection, etc) when i mke a selection it reboots, very strange indeed.

Somebody a new idea?
 
2 things I would try and rule out are the power supply and the memory.

1. Try another power supply. You did not post what kind you are using?
2. Run memtest86 to test your memory.
 
Update, I went to buy a 512 mb stick today and now my installation is runing, but still in format stage, if this works i will try to install the rest of the ram and update my bios to the latest version so it can recognize my cpu completely

Thanks for the reply and by the way my PSU is a WINPOWER ATX-600(came with the case) 600 w.
