install win7 64bit on non-bootable SSD

Hi there all - have a problem using an SSD on my Dell Laptop.
In short - exchanging the internal drive with an SSD is a real hastle due to the way this paricular laptop is built so i am exploring for an easier solution.

I have purchased an adapter that holds a drive or SSD and fits instead of the DVD drive. When connected windows from the main drive recognise it as second drive and all is hanky-dory

the issue is that i want to install windows on the SSD but the SSD is not recognised as bootable by the BIOS and after seeing it is a common issue with no solution on many web pages i have left wondering if there is a way of booting windows from thehard drive but somehow diverting it to the SSD - maybe hard linking all system files or something...
any creative solutions out there?
Can I create Junction Points for all system folders so still boot from hard drive but keep all system and program files on the SSD?
 
Which specific laptop model do you have? During the post screen, do you have an option of for example F10 or F12 for an alternate booting device?
 
Its Dell Inspiron N5110. I have set it to boot from dvd drive before hard disk both in bios and through F12 boot priority. It just does not recognise it as bootable device.
Actualy if i put another hard disk instead of the SSD in the adapter (one with win xp installation from another laptop) it tries to boot from it but screen stays black and doesnt boot so i need to restart laptop
 
If you have the DVD drive in the machine and choose the F12 boot menu, does it see the DVD drive as a bootable device?
