Cant figure this one out, iam trying to install server 2003 on a SATA 40GB 7200.7seagate hard drive using the onboard silicon image raid controller. The problem is that the windows installer just craps out after formating a partition, it worked once or twice but now nothing.
Keep in mind that using an allready formated ntfs partition created in partition magic/acronis disk tools works absolutely fine and the OS runs reliably without errors or anything.
Ive tried the following:
Different windows install cd's
Different DVD-ROM/R drives on different ide headers.
Different driver set including latest abit and latest whql from SI's website.
Windows chkdsk etc...
The disk was pulled from a brand new dell machine which was working fine, smart is also ok and the same thing happens when i put 2 drives in raid 1.
