I have a 9600 (yes i need to upgrade). My computer will kick me out of HL2, or Q4, Homeworld2 and the like, into windows. Sometimes it will reboot my pc. No need to say this is frustrating. I think it is the vid card because it is only when I play 3d games. I'm going to try and stress it and see if i get the reboot with it.

To my main question: If most of you think this is due to the card, do you think the rest of my system will be up to running a 6800 card? Otherwise I will build a new system (dont want to spend the extra cash if i dont have to).
 
To me, it sounds like your computer has symptoms of overheating, especially if it is restarting for no reason. Your computer probably gets the hottest during 3D games and this is why this is happening. It might be worth it to check the temps when everything is running at full load. I had an old dual-processor PC that used to do this to me and the CPUs would get up to 100 C under full load sometimes! :eek:

Well I have installed MM5. 49C prossesor 36C case, no where near the 85C max operating for an XP.
