I just purchased a new aftermarket battery for my Inspiron E1705, and after having received the battery, it does not work with the laptop.
The laptop BIOS does not recognize the battery, and therefore will not charge it, stating the the battery is not installed. When trying to update the BIOS, I cannot do so. I am currently running a dual-boot of Linux Mint and Windows 7. Mint won't run .EXE files, and 7 is giving me an error when trying to run the file in compatibility mode.
Specifically, the 7 error is that it is asking me to run the program in Administrator mode, which I am in, seeing as there is only one user account, and I have selected that as an option when right-clicking the program as well.
Oddly enough, the battery itself is new, but does not contain any identifying marks as to whom the manufacturer is. I have contacted the seller that I purchased it from to obtain technical support, but have not had a response in 2-3 days.
Thanks for any help!
