The folks at Llamma got their hands on the new Xbox 360 Elite and promptly tore it apart. There are a handful of interesting changes to the Elite’s motherboard (not just the addition of HDMI) that include added epoxy around the GPU and CPU for support, less transistors around the CPU, new fan headers and more. Head on over and check out all the cool comparison photos.

In our opinion the Xbox 360 Elite is the best value in gaming to date. Not only do you get the 120GB hard drive and HDMI port but Microsoft spares no expense and included a nice HDMI cable AND the original HD/SD combo cable. This truly was a surprise to see both cables included with the Elite and is very appreciated.

It would have been interesting to know the difference in noise levels between the old and new models. The switch to 65nm (which they suspect did happen) was supposed to help reduce fan noise.
 
I believe that they already did the switch, although I could be very wrong. I say that because I had to replace my 360 a few weeks ago and it is considerable quieter then my old one
 
I would like to know the visual differences between Component, VGA and HDMI. I used Component then switched over to VGA they both have there pluses and minus but so far I prefer VGA. HDMI I am sure won’t have any of the minuses of the two so I am interest to see the differences, hopefully GT or another site can post some HD videos/pictures.

I think you are wrong. Most of the noise of the first-gen 360s was actually the DVD drive, not the fans. Your replacement probably has the BenQ drive (though the Elite apparently uses yet another drive) that was significantly quieter than the Samsung that MS started out with.
 
They havn't gone to 65nm yet. I too thought they would do this for the Elites, but no. This was confirmed by an upper level MS employee, more details can be found in news archive at xboxscene.

Hopefully with the revised board layout temps will come down and it'll be easier to get quality solder joints.

Good read, This is what I was waiting out for. It's like waiting for SP1 on Vista, but with something FAR more useful :)
