Does the speaker that gives you beep error codes come with a case or does it come with the Mobo? Or do you have to install one separately?

some mobo's have them on the board, but most all cases still come with one to hook up

it is also the first thing i throw away when/if i open up a regular case :D

What good are those things again?

well usually if your comp isnt posting it uses beep codes to tell you what the problem is, it is actually quite helpful, that is if you know what your beep codes are

my tyan has it built into the mobo

ya welcome to the 1980's when beep codes mattered. I haven't seen them in any mobo manuals lately......have you?

Who the hell needs beep codes when I have a sexy computer voice telling me everything!

"Computer now booting from operating system"
" PCI Express power cable is not connected"
"The way you touch my keys, makes my case temp rise!"

Roffles. That chick scares me. She Hax0rd into my asus board and whispered sweet-nothings into my ear. Later I found out she was banging my brother!

One of the features with the ASUS A8N SLI is you can set up your own voice recordings for the post voice and dignostic info.

I was over at his house and record a new message for his post.

Next time he started his computer where it would nomally say
"Power on self test complete, now booting from operating system"
he heard
(evil sounding voice) "Kill your fucking family when they sleep!"

He told me he jumped 3 feet out of his seat when he heard it!
:D

I have a ASUS P4C800-E mobo and it doesn't talk :( Maybe I have it turned off in the BIOS. Is the voice sent to the sound card or does it talk through the case speaker? Or maybe it's only heard if you use the onboard sound. Hmm

You have to be using onboard sound for it to work. If you have a Live! Or audigy....you are out of luck unless you also enable the ac97 codec.

Yeah I have the SB Live! So if I enable the ac97 codec it will work? How do I do this?

I apologize if this is getting OT.

I know my old Asus P4B had the voice reporter. What an annoying bitch!

I prefer the beeps.

only if you then connect speakers to the mobo's sound output jack.
