Would it be really bad for my computer to occasionally burn inscents in the same room?

I would not see any problems, just keep your case clean by dusting it out occasionally and it should be fine.

check the CPU heat sink and see if there is any nasty's biult up on it, go from there

Any smoke is technically a bad idea. Incense may not be the worst of them, but it's still a problem. Even with air filters it can get in there and leave residue that could do all sorts of nasty shit (no idea what).

I would generally avoid burning anything in the same room as a computer. As a general rule. Generally. As in all the time (for me). Yeah.

I hear it's illegal, too, but all the rage in the south.

Seriously, ask anyone who's worked on computers and they can tell you that a computer that came from a habitual smoker is nasty as hell. And they're usually yellow. I don't know how incense will affect your computer, but maybe it will end up smelling like the incense. It won't really harm your computer, but like another poster said, it will leave a layer of smoke residue on the innards of your computer. If you're not concerned with your computer smelling like incense, then go for it. I would avoid smoking weed and playing FPS games, though, cuz that can really mess you up.

Oh, and weed is illegal.

Nicely played.

Yeah, any smoke near my computer gets extinguished.

I know for a fact that cigarette smoke is harmful for computers. Has the same effect on the components as it does on human lungs. Of course, I don't think insence has any tar that could build up on the parts, but smoke in general is bad for computers because the particles stick to the hardware.

Processed tobacco is much more harmfull due to the number of harmful chemicals in it such as ammonia and tar etc... although incence arnt as harmful as tobacco they may leave a very little amount of crap in your computer.

Oh and Buckus, playing FPS and smoking weed wont mess you up. Its been tried and tested.

I think that it's safe to say that compared to cigarette smoke, the smoke from incense is pretty much harmless, unless we're talking about very long periods of time (5+ years in a room filled 15+ hrs/day with the sweet smell of incense).

Speaking from experience, I can state with certainty that there are few things as utterly repugnant as coming within ten meters of the computer of a smoker, let alone working on the insides of such a system. I can't believe that incense will have anywhere near such an effect, or they would have been banned already to protect people's health.

Then again, cigarettes aren't yet banned either ;)

To actually answer the question, burning incense--OCCASIONALLY--shouldn't cause any problems. If you want a guarantee that incense smoke won't cause any problems, don't burn it.

insents wont hurt your computer, just don't burn then right where your case is intaking or anything. Dont fill the room with smoke or anything.

lol, how many times can it be mis-spelled. It's "incense." :)

Although, I must admit that I came into this thread expecting something about incandescent light bulbs and refresh rates. ;)
