Can you install from a upgrade version of XP pro without installing Win98?
If so HOW do you do it? I almost always get some kind of file copy error when upgrading it

If it is an up-grade disc then, you have to, have a previous version of Windows. As faras, I know.

I seem to remember reading somewhere you can do it - but have to have the 98 Disc I got a few of em :D
Just looking for a easier way to reload Xp

You have to have a full version of a Windows OS somewhere in order to perform an upgrade.

If you're getting a file copy error, you have a hardware problem ... check optical drive, RAM, CPU, etc. That, or you have a problem with your XP CD.

You can install an upgrade version without having the previous version installed. Boot from the upgrade version CD and begin the installation; it will ask you for the previous version's CD, at which point it will check some files (or something) and ask for the upgrade version CD again.

Cool Gonna try it on a older hard drive first to make sure it will work.
It could be my XP cd- it's a backup copy- so who knows.
