Insane cpu heat?

I have been having problems with my computer with corrupting files and other problems, rebooting etc.

I downloaded motherboard monitor and checked the temperatures and saw that the cpu socket temperature is around 40-50c, but the cpu diode temperature is between 80 and 100 celsius!

Is this way to high or is it normal?

My cpu is a barton xp3000 and the motherboard is a Asus A7N8X-X.
 
cpu thempeture looks ok, cpu can go up to 150c "diodes part" but when it gets neer this its starts getting dangerous. Only way to lower tempeture is to make sure the air in your computer is flowing so hot air doesnt stay need the cpu
 
i would try 2 things dude for that CPU Heat.. first i would tear off that CPU and read it make sure that u gotta 3000+, if it is, Update your Bios to latest and greatest, if thats done find a better HSF, or re-install yours with some good thermal compound like Arctic Silver 5. if that Diode was at 80-100 degrees that CPU would Shutdown PERIOD. ether that or fry. but since u said all it does is reboot i would also check your bios for shutdown temps that might be preprogrammed into it

definatly update the bios if u havent
definatly re-install the HSF

if your using a stock HSF get another HSF the stock ones BLOW and not literally, they just dont cool good enough for those machines. im using a ThermalRight SKU 947 with a smart fan II and Arctic Silver 5 my temps are currently 28-30C idle 30-34C full load with the diode @ 35C idle 40-42C at full load

asus has a prob with faulty readings on CPU temps specially with their earlier bios versions the A7N8X-Deluxe i had was reading wrong with earlier bios's and the newer ones cleared that problem up, hope this helps

ummmm. no.

max die temp for the bartons is either 75 or 80c. either way, you're above it. don't turn on the computer until you comeplete the following:
take off the heatsink. go buy some cheap thermal paste at radioshack or something. clean off the core and the heatsink.
apply heatsink according to these instructions.

let us know how it goes ;)
