So I'm looking to buy a 40-42 inch LED TV to watch Blu-Rays and play xbox360 without input lag or response time really.

Yesterday at bestbuy, I voiced my concern to a BestBuy rep about the input lag with a TV and she told me i only had Input Lag cuz i still used component cables and getting a new xbox with hdmi output would eliminate that input lag. The response time on the TV i liked was 6ms. In the past this was atrocious for gaming with component cables. I would like to know if she's even telling the truth. This was the TV I liked, Thanks guys!!

P.S. she said cuz it could go up to 240hz there wouldnt be any input lag. I really just cant seem to believe her!

There is no such thing as an LED TV. There are LCD TVs with LED back lighting which usually results in poor screen uniformity.

All TV's and consoles are locked @60hz. The xxxhz is just motion interpolation (Motion Flow, Clear Motion or whatever X company wants to call it) which is performed by the TV's on board processing and it pretty much always adds input lag when enabled.

You should be looking at Plasmas like the Samsung 50D550 (800$ from Amazon has low input lag, good default color accuracy and deep blacks)

Definetly Sony 40EX720 (or EX723). Atleast its 40" model is very low input lag in game mode. 32" version which I own is very fast too although I have no way to measure it myself. But mouse movements are very twitchy and thats good enough for me.

Its quite pricey but I love this TV. It looks fantastic after calibration and as I said it feels very fast. Also supports 4:4:4 chroma in game mode so everything looks sharp. Just remember to disable Light Sensor and Eco mode which are on by defautl and screw up the picture and contrast.

Another plus side irrelevant to the topic but is important if you watch movies is that Sony has best video processing I have seen so far. Motionflow set to Standard (sets panel to 120hz. Some film buffs say to set this off but they make a mistake here as it results in judder. they think this is what causes motion interpolation alone) and Film Mode on Auto 2 you get perfect 24fps play without judder and absolutely no Soap Opera effects. Auto 1 gives you that with motionflow enabled if you want some, looks good imho. Much better than Philips equivalent.

Downsides are that 3D in this thing is crap, crosstalk suspectible depending what kind of 3D game or movie uses. Also its Edge-LED so its suspectible to flashlighting in corners. I got lucky and mine is free from that but some arent.
