Innovatek RAD

I picked up 4 of the smaller ones... one for each side for 2 computers, new machines I'm building for my wife and I. I haven't run water through them yet but I can tell you what I see so far.

Pros:
The aluminum extrusions are flawless (function and form). They mount nicely and by my calculations, that one you linked will have more than enough heat dissipation for 95% of cooling systems. You'll get a whole lot more out if it if you keep it in a well ventilated area. Even better... tweak your fans so you have positive pressure inside your case and put a few holes and let your case vent from underneath it. Passive convection is ok, but natural airflow is much better.

Cons:
I'm not 100% on the fittings. I'll be checking them for leaks to make sure the rubber O rings hold up after being torqued down. The hoses connect very nicely though.
 
I don't see why you would go with this rad, I read the other thread and you want to run it passive, but where exactly can you attach it to your case?

If I were you, I'd go for an easy setup with a BIPIII or the ThermoChill PA (or HE forgot which ones use quieter fans) and just use really quiet fans...

Yes, I know his thread very well. Why you ask, the answer is quite simple.
I wanted a RAD that was external not internal. My case is big, but so are my components inside the case. The internal temps of the case will not go below the ambient temp of the room, so my thought was this; reduce the room temp and bring the RAD outside of the case. Maybe it wll work, and them again maybe it will not. I will post the temps next week.

and yes they do have an actively cooled rad in the same loop, but I am hopeful.

I am going to stay with AC, which will be 2 Cuplex XT,s and 2 Twinplex Pro's. I am still debating utilizing the EVO 160 as an active cooler. Given the size of the Innovatek, I really dont think I will need it, but then again I might.
The 2 Chipsets do not have the heat problem my DFI or the ASUS had, so no reason to cool the chipsets. There are two Nvidia chipsets, plus the AMD on this MB. According to SpeedFan and the TYAN monitor, there is no reason to cool them as they stay very cool.
To your question about the worklog? I typically just do it, but I will post a few pics tomorrow. This is what I am starting with, obviously it is all air cooled at the moment and somewhat sloppy.

I doubt the inno will do it. Unless you get the booster, or another radiator, it will heat up faster than a prescott.
 
You see, they aren't all that effective. Think of a passive radiator, with almost no airflow through it. Doesn't cool very well.

Of course, you can go with the booster kit, which is about 40 bucks more, and will add a bit of noise, but will easily cool two cpu's, two gpu's, and everything else you wanna put into it.
 
Seems like a lot of money for a radiator. I have noticed that in the realm of water cooling there are two general approaches. The first is "cooling with looks". The second is "cooling by design". Basically what I am saying is that after reading and looking around quite a bit there seem to be a lot of neat-looking expensive products that don't actually work very well, or any better than their less attractive and less expensive bretheren.
