Innovatek Coolant Question

Innovatek's bullish RMA policy requires you to use their coolant, or the warranty's null. I want an Innovatek kit (not for another couple of months though) for my future PC (in about 2.5 months while I save up paper route money), and the Innovatek kit will be my first stab at watercooling. EVAR. So obviously, I'm fated to FUBAR something, whether it be an improperly tightened fitting or something else. So I want to use non-conductive coolant, like MCT-5. But that voids your warranty. Innovatek's Protect-N however, is non-condutive, but you gotta mix it with a litre of water, which basically destroys the whole purpose of making it non-conductive. So here's the question:

CAN I SIMPLY BUY A SH**LOAD OF THAT PROTECT-N COOLANT, NOT MIX IT WITH WATER, AND HAVE ONLY THAT RUNNING IN MY LOOP?

Or will it be too thick or something, and will performance suffer?
 
It's designed to mix with H20 and H20 is what cools your computer. The additives just keep corrosion and biologicals down. From what I hear Innovatek is known to not honor warranty claims even if you do use their coolant. Why not go with an Aqua Computer system? About the same price and perhaps a bit cheaper. :)

Innovatek will more than likely screw you on a warranty because you're not in Germany/Europe. I get the feeling that they, much like Aqua Computer, do not care about the market outside of Europe. I'd just use whatever coolant you want - their warranty isn't worth it really and it's unlikely you'll break anything; just don't screw the fittings into any plastic parts to far (it doesn't take much to seal the thread).

That's a reason I really like Alphacool. They are more performance oriented (if that's your thing), but really care about the market outside of Europe.
 
Just mix the Innova Pro-Protect N with Distilled water. It's meant to be used with tap water, that does not mean it HAS to be mixed with tap water.

As for FUBARing something because of a leak somewhere, that's why you test the loop without the PC power on. Any leak you're going to develop will be discovered within a 2-day "burn in" of most any loop. To be honest, I've built with barbs and Innovatek compression fittings and you'll be hard pressed to screw up something with the barbs if you use a little common sense.

As for Nurse's suggestion of going AC vs Innova for price:

IMO the best build you'll get is by mixing Innova with AC and Alpha parts, just my opinion though.

You might be interested to know that Sharka will soon have in stock all the 8 x 10mm compression fittings in G 1/8 size. 90 degree elbows, 90 degree elbows for the blocks, and the straight ones they already have in stock. So you can now have AC gear with 8 x 10mm hose. :D

HOLY CRAP! 60 %@#^ DOLLARS? I'd start looking more closely at Alphacool and Aqua Computer (both can be abbreviated to AC, so please be clear on that) instead of just glancing at them and shunning 6mm tubing! Okay, let me try to revise my list:

The only suggestion I would make is that you consider using a HWL BI series 240 radiator as the Innovatek radiators are quite overpriced and IIRC they are made by HWL.
 
Depends on the southbridge and to what lengths you want to go to ditch a noisy fan if inb fact it does have a fan.
 
P5ND2 mobo, so nVidia MCP-something. It's got a tiny heatsink, and I don't want to have any fans on the system other than the dual Ultra Titanium Finish 120mm fans I'm planning on using for the radiator, and I want to stick an Aquatube in the intake 120mm fan cut-out, hence the MOSFET and northbridge block... I *really* wanna cut down on noise, while maxing out the overclockability of my 65nm CPU, which is why I'm getting a watercooling kit in the first place. So this is what the list looks like now:

That would work well, but then you have to run cable out to the fan. :( That sink will work better if you lop off about 1/2" off the pins so the fan doesn't have any restriction over the center and add spacers to make up the difference. I made a similar HSF arrangement a few years ago for my 9800 Pro.

Both Crossfire X16 and SLI X16 use a NB/SB design with half of the PCI-E lanes residing in the SB, the deciding factor in the performance of the dual-GPU setup being in the interconnect between the SB and the NB. Or at least that's what I understand from Anandtech articles.

You're probably right, what I'm calling the SB is the exact same dimensions as the NB chip. Don't really know for sure what the exact arrangement is, just heard that both chips get very hot when running SLI so I put active sinks on both just to be safe (especially since they're so quiet).

Running the cables from the header to the sink-fan was no problem, I just cut down the wires to about 2 inches long each. With a little bit of black sleeve you barely notice they're there.
 
Innovatek rads are made of aluminum on the inside.

If I were going for a performance block, I'd get an Alphacool NexXxos XP over the Cuplex XT, but that's mostly because the XP is half the cost of the XT and should perform evenly (and it performs on par with a Storm G4). Of course the nickle plated coper or delrin XP's aren't as pretty as the XTs.

Are you sure you need that pump? A Laing DDC will do the job just as well and is smaller, if that's a factor at all.

Speaking of AC vs Innovatek, I like both. I do prefer the HPPS pump for its direct molex connection and any of the 1046/1048 plugon tanks work with it.
