I am not sure where this post should go, but since I needed help, I guess this place might be it?

I need some advice on shipping a personal desktop computer across countries (Canada to US). Since I am moving back to the States, I would want to know some professional advices on packaging and the approximate cost for it. Also the type of services that I should get for shipping my computer. Since this is for personal usage, I was hoping that the recommendation would not be that expensive.

I can't speak specifically for pricing, however shipping in general even within Canada is absolutely outrageous. I'd expect at least $50.

Honestly, if you're driving I'd take it with you, if you're flying I would take it as checked baggage.

And yes, this is probably the wrong forum :)
 
There really isn't a forum that this would be a hot topic, but this one may get you some of the info you need. You have hardware and this is a general question. :D
 
Thanks for replying guy. But checking in as a luggage? I heard from people's experience that those people at the airport treats luggage like crap. :( Probably some advice on protection can help?

I would not check it as baggage. It would probably be inconvenient to take it as carry-on as well. Your best solutions is probably to pack it very well and ship it with a reliable company.
